Heat Advisory: 30 New Artists to Watch This Summer

A severe heat advisory has been issued and a scorching hot summer is in effect. 30 different artists of different genres from all over the world combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Keep an ear out, your eyes open, and when possible, drink plenty of water.

We just received word that there is a mixtape that will be dropping later this month with a single from each of these artists. Stay tuned for a blistering hot summer mix.

The heat advisory forecast has been issued for the following 30 artists (in no particular order):

1) Kevin Pistol out of Denver, Colorado has been in the process of an internet takeover with his collaborations with hip-hop’s elite including Snoop Dogg, Bun-B, E-40, Jayo Felony, Rockwilder and more.  His highly-anticipated album “iThoughts” will be available this later this year from Hustlinflow Music Group.  Put on some sunglasses this summer, because this rap artist has a bright future. 2) One-2 is signed to Treacherous Records – a record label that Slaughterhouse (Shady Records) member Crooked I is the Sr. Vice President of . One-2 and Crooked I have collaborations including “Machine Gun Rap Flow”“Signs”, “3 Emcees” and more have become fan favorites all throughout the internet; Another One-2 collaborator, Knoc-turn’al has been quoted as saying, “One-2 will be the first Armenian rapper to go platinum.” That prediction may ring true sooner rather than later, as One-2 is preparing to release a unique project, a double EP titled “History/Destiny” later this year that features Crooked I, Jayo Felony, Knoc-turn’al, K-Young, Kobe from the record-breaking Eminem “Recovery” album.  This debut album is entirely produced (both discs) by Treacherous Records in-house producer, Komplex.

3) Y-Dresta splits his time in both Sacramento, California and Las Vegas, Nevada.  He is buzzing throughout cities on the West Coast with his memorable song “Married to the Music” that features the multi-platinum, Grammy-Award winning Bizzy Bone from Bone Thugs-n-Harmony off his new EP “Inside the Mind.” 4) Versatile is a bi-lingual rapper from Los Alamos, New Mexico. His catchy single “No One Compares” featuring Dallas Blocker is currently playing on 26 radio stations across the country and gaining more momentum weekly. Obviously, people have started to pay attention to his summer video on YouTube that is rising to almost 300,000 views. 

5) Laura Wilde is an alternative rock artist and the protégé of multi-platinum producer Mike Mosley (2Pac, E-40). At 21 years of age, her influences include Jimi Hendrix, Slash and more, all the while herself being a fast-rising star with a guitar in her hands. From Melbourne, Australia, Laura prides herself off meshing traditional rock for a new, younger generation of fans. With an in your face attitude, Laura Wilde is a ball of rock and roll energy sure to rise in the ranks in the years this summer. 6) Garrick Rawls has been making noise with his hit single “Thin Line” that features the hit-singing R&B crooner TQ.  TQ has well-known recordings with Lil Wayne, Trick Daddy, Baby, Jazze Pha, Sarah Connor and more. This rising emcee is signed to Foreignity Music Group out of Miami Florida and is on-set this summer shooting the video for this potent record.   

7) B. James is the Scarface protégé who was featured on six songs from Scarface’s latest retail release, the critically-acclaimed “Scarface Presents: Dopeman Music.”  B. James is currently working on his new project “A Young Vet” and is slated to appear on Scarface’s upcoming album “The Habit” along with an upcoming spotlight on HipHopDX’s “DX Next.”  8) Carrington is a singer, songwriter and producer from Raleigh, North Carolina who has been hitting the airwaves with this infectious jam that has him shining like a star that he first debuted while opening up for Travis Porter.  It is no coincidence that this song is called “Stars”. He is part of the Writer’s Block Music Group, Inc movement. 

9) Kodie is an international artist who just inked a massive deal with Maynea Records, the innovative record label out of Sweden.  His debut single, just released called “My Girl” is produced by Ajami who is known for his dazzling studio work with Knoc-turn-al, Sabrina, Airamis and others.  His upcoming video is scheduled to premier overseas on MTV.  10) Stormm earned her stage name the first time she stepped into the microphone booth to perform a song in front of an audience – left in shock and awe after her performance, the crowd was quoted as saying “it’s like a storm swept through this room.”  Stormm learned how to survive on her own at an early age, having moved from France to USA as a teenager. Serious about pursuing a career in music, Stormm currently has a new brutally honest single titled “I Wish I Never Met You.” Stormm is also well known for her charitable efforts, especially lending her aid to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

11) Quintin Gray is out of Bowling Green, Kentucky and right now, he is in the studio with Kyng Of Da Beatz Productions and is gearing up for his upcoming high-profile single with the Ying Yang Twins. The video for “Where Did You Get That” that features Ying Yang Twins is currently in the works with acclaimed video-director McKinley Presents who is known for his work with Mr. Boomtown and his numerous videos placed on major network channels. Recently, Quintin Gray has shared the stage with Travis Porter, Nappy Roots, Hurricane Chris and others.  12) Jimmy 2 Tymes rose to fame and acclaim with the recent release of his “The Real 2Tymes” mixtape that has done well over 100K impressions online to date. Featuring collaborations with Bun B, Young Dro, Jagged Edge and more, “The Real 2Tymes” continues to blaze up the mixtape airwaves and make noise in the streets. Jimmy also recently released a new video titled “Everyday” featuring Future & Rasheeda. 

13) Nasim an artist who has Dr Dre in her personal rolodex and has her upcoming debut album coming soon that she is finishing up in Los Angeles, California with producer Genus Vega. Her upcoming album titled “A.T.L.I.E.N” is an acronym for “Alive Living in Earths Nonsense.” Her debut album will feature Krayzie Bone and Krazy D, an original member of N.W.A. She has a follow up single to “Bubblegum” which had a video premier on VEVO, a song called “Bang the Drum” which was co-produced by Ajami. 14) K Starks is a veteran New York emcee who has been blessed in his career to rub elbows with the likes of Ron G, DJ S&S and more. Beginning his career in the acclaimed Dead Poetz Society group, K Starks continues to see his career flourish with the release of his latest singles “So Lucky” and “Man Down” produced by the legendary Ron Brownz (Nas “Ether”, etc). 

15) Jaguar is a versatile emcee/producer and the blood brother of veteran multi-platinum west coast emcee Knoc-turn’al. He has already appeared on numerous songs alongside Knoc-turn’al, as well as Jayo Felony among others. Jaguar is believed to be signing his major record deal at a performance showcase on July 23rd at 7th Street Chophouse in San Pedro, California, where Knoc-turn’al will also be present performing a live set. 16) Big A – Music has always been in Big A’s blood. Born in Salt Lake City but raised in San Francisco, his mother was a professional opera singer. A true appreciator of the elements of hip-hop, Big A began break dancing at age five on the streets for money, something that taught him how to survive on his own all the while educating himself on the core of hip-hop in its art form. With an entrepreneurship state of mind, Big A owns his own independent record label, LTA. Already having collaborated with the likes of Snoop Dogg, T.I., Rick Ross and more, Big A is sure to leave his mark on the industry. His new single “Billionaire” will be dropping on July 15th. 

17) Rashondra Angelle is a west coast femcee hailing from Long Beach, California drawing comparisons to Lauryn Hill. She has her new powerful in motivation the Dae One produced single and video, “Rise.”  Her producer Dae One has produced for people such as Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and more.  Her video is highly praised as it brilliantly depicts two-sides of this exciting new artist. With her upbeat energy and her refreshingly positive vibe, she is sure to allow her to continue prospering her career in the summer of 2011 and beyond. 18) Mav is an inspiration for Latino artists all over the world. Extremely proud of his heritage, Mav is one of the most popular hip-hop artists in the state of Arizona, and look for that popularity to spread nationwide in the months to come. A member of the Sol Camp collective, Mav released his extremely successful “Independent Hustlin” album that featured Juice of Black Wall Street, The Ying Yang Twins, Lucky Luciano, Noah Jones, RythmIQ, 21 The Producer and more. 

19) Jamin – Jamin is an overall student of music from Berkley who is apart of the production duo known as The Platinum Firm who has worked with numerous megastars of all genres. Jamin is currently working on his debut solo album “Diplomatic” set to feature appearances by Snoop Dogg, David Banner, Lil Flip, E-40, Knoc-turn’al, Brian McKnight and more. Jamin is also currently scoring the soundtrack and film for the currently untitled film based on the life and times of Freeway Rick Ross. 20) Donny B Lord aka “DBL” was born (but not raised) in the British Virgin Islands and right now he is busy promoting “Party on the Moon” his irresistible pop record.  Years ago, he was discovered by Jackie Jackson who let his brother Jermaine hear this young artist and they both labeled him as “little Michael.” After gaining, so much knowledge and experience from being around The Jacksons, he eventually walked away to do it on his own and fly away to the moon. Sometime this summer, make sure you watch the futuristic video that was directed by Yolande Geralds who is known for her work with Trey Songz, Plies, Gucci Mane and more.  

21) Bryan Fox the county-rock artist from Louisville, KY has a new single out featuring Nappy Roots called “Countryfied State of Mind” that has been buzzing throughout the South.  This memorable record has the crossover potential to be something massive. Nappy Roots are the multi-platinum, Grammy nominated group who are putting the finishing touches on their new album that will be released after the summer.  In the meantime, go down yonder and get countryfied.  22) “Chris” out of Washington, DC also known as Lindsey Christian from Soblu Music Group has caught the attention of many industry heavyweights including popular journalist, Raina Webber who calls her “refreshing in every sense of the word.”  She has just released her fiery single “Ain’t That Easy” produced by Modigga that is impacting radio now.  When she is not recording in Asparagus Media Studios to finish her debut album, she is hard-working on her upcoming major motion picture, Afterschool. 

23) Nic Paper is recording in Atlanta, Georgia with ChartControl, the production company that was formed by Isaac Hayes III, the son of the legendary musical icon Isaac Hayes. This buzzing artist has a popular single out called “Upset” that features Big Juvy that is being played throughout the ATL and briskly spreading to other cities.  He has also teamed up Dennis McKinley of Hoopla South who has started his full-blown marketing and promotions campaign. 24) Boog Brown from Detroit, Michigan has been receiving praise from critics alike everywhere for her unique sound.  She has too many great songs to mention and a buzzing single out now.  A lot of people project her to be the breakout star that will deservedly crossover this summer.  It is no longer the boys of the summer this year… 

25) Mash who hails from Anaheim, California is currently working his blistering single and video “From the Anaz.” Mash made a lot of noise with his mixtape “DJ Age Presents: Mash The Ambassador” that features artists’ such as Bad Azz, Kokane, Jayo Felony, Tray Deee, Siccness and many more. Mash strategically teamed up with DJ Age who is one of the most well-known and respected DJ’s on the West Coast.  26) Ghetto the Plug is the neighborhoods connect who always has what you need; that is quite fitting when discussing this Atlanta based artist. A star at creating modern day “trap” anthems, Ghetto the Plug has collaborated with Tity Boi, Gorilla Zoe, I-20, Jackie-O, Princess of Crime Mob, Bone Crusher, C-Bo and more. Look out for his new music videos, “Anything” and “Dope Man.” 

27) Riz is an illustrious New York emcee who hip-hop lovers all over the world shall respect and listen too. Whether that be in the tape deck or iPod, hip-hop heads of all generations are sure to bump Riz’ music religiously this summer. With a number of videos released in the last six months that have performed extremely well including “Can’t Stop Me”, “War Call” and more, Riz is sure to be one of New York’s brightest stars to shine. 28) J-Rich of Stay Focused Records is from the bay area but is currently working out of Miami, Florida (where he relocated) and Atlanta, Georgia.  Right now, he has his renowned mixtape out titled, “Independently Major 2” hosted by the one and only DJ Drama.  This mixtape has the hit-single “Super Hero” that features Gucci Mane.  It also enlists Short Dawg, Honest Bob, Majah Swag and more. This hungry artist stays focused and right now, he is gearing up for a tour with Young Money this summer. 

29) Tracy Tyler – producer of out Miami, Fl who first came into the public eye after he won the international Young Buck remix contest for his song, “Ya Better Know It.”  This month he is releasing his follow-up single “Untitled” with Sabrina. The controversial video will be premiering in a few weeks that will, without question get people talking. Besides being a producer, he is a fitness guru and will be appearing on the cover of several major health and fitness magazines.  30) Seymour The Painter – Last but not least, this artist represents Tour Billion Music Group and burst onto the scene recently with his brand new DJ Drama assisted and hosted mixtape, “Paintin’ U A Picture.”  This musical artist from Springfield, Massachusetts is also a worldwide recognized painter of original, abstract art.  Marlon Seymour Contemporary Art has a vast collection of his innovatory artwork including paintings, sculptures, and photographs.
